How the Typing Speed Test Works
Our typing speed test measures how fast and accurately you can type. A passage of text is displayed and you simply type it as quickly and correctly as you can. The timer starts automatically when you begin typing.
Understanding Your Results
- WPM (Words Per Minute) — your typing speed, calculated as correctly typed characters divided by 5
- Accuracy — the percentage of characters you typed correctly
- Correct / Errors — total correct characters and mistakes made
Tips to Improve Your Typing Speed
- Focus on accuracy first — speed will follow naturally
- Keep your fingers on the home row (ASDF JKL;)
- Practice regularly with different passages
- Avoid looking at the keyboard while typing
